Style is about individuality, ownership of self, use of personal interpretation & perspective, bending & breaking rules & leading your own way. Someone can see style and build upon it to make it their own.Trends are for followers, those looking to lose identity to fit in with the larger group, the temporary. There is no deviation from the path & the path fades with the next trend. Embracing trend can lead to stagnation, everything is a copy of a copy of the latest copy.Like Yin & Yang, these things must coexist to support its counterpart, one cannot completely shun the other without harming itself. These are some of the thoughts that to into my design process, this is why I have trashed more designs than I have produced as final products. I am a perfectionist true, however, I seek a sort of pureness more so than just originality. It can be imperfect if it feels true to me. I suppose this is the artist in me that no matter how my life up until now has served to destroy him, he will fight for that spark that comes from soulful, expressive designs.So you wait until it all lines up, the followers fade away, while the leaders continue on in understanding.
